Some of the roadway’s sections do not have 12 foot lanes, but they do meet the minimum 11 foot lanes in each direction, plus the designated minimum 2 foot width of shy distance. For the week of September 16, 2019 to September 20, 2019, road closure is planned between 6:00PM and 7:00PM on September 16th for heavy rock excavation work and clean up. Expect occasional traffic delays that could last up to 15 minutes during the day between 6:00AM and 6:00PM. Expect delays that last up to 30 minutes at night between 6:00PM and 6:00AM. The Contractor continues to perform heavy rock excavation work, and now they have also started to work on replacing the bridges. There are five bridges that will get replaced on phase 1 (2019) of this project and the Contractor plans to install two at a time. Traffic will be detoured over temporary bridge structures as they work on installing the new bridges. Motorists are advised that the Old Winchester Grade is not a viable alternative to US-95 due to its extremely poor surface condition, load limit of 30,000 pounds, and low speed limit of 25 mph. The road is closed to through traffic and will be enforced by local law enforcement agencies. Due to the nature of this project, closure schedules are subject to change with little to no notice. Updates will be posted here as soon as they are known.”
